KING CANNIBAL SAYS…

Check out this months edition of Clash magazine to find an article written by myself on Japanese ‘pink cinema’. I often think if i had more time on my hands i’d like to set up a film blog taking about bad films i’ve seen and the odd obscure gems. Who knows maybe if this all goes to pot i may well do, but until then these are my first cinema thoughts to hit the printing press.

  1. Got any recommendations for where to get started in this genre? Is Female Prisoner Scorpion a good place to start?

  2. Hi Jay,

There are so many good films. I think i first got into them through kung-fu flicks, things like Lady Snowblood. Probably best not to start with Suzuki’s work – it can be really baffling. I’d go for either Female Prisoner Scorpion or Female Prisoner Scorpion : Beast Stable, as these are definitely of my faviourites. Doesn’t matter what order you watch them in really. The second one is brilliant too, but a little more abstract.
    Hope you enjoy!
