KING CANNIBAL SAYS…

Next up from the dusty depths of my hard drive is this remix of Black Grass from earl 2006, the first remix i was asked to do as King Cannibal if memory serves me correctly.

Black Grass – Oh Jah King Cannibal Remix

It is admittedly pretty basic in production terms (non hi passed reverb and on big kick drum at that? CHECK! the odd clashing frequency? CHECK!) but it roars over  dancefloors something fierce and listening back to it i still like it.

The details on the what got picked for the commercial release can be found here.

KING CANNIBAL SAYS…

Another slice of unreleased action – although this time it isn’t from myself, it is Komonazmuk’s alternative remix to my track Badman Near Dark

King Cannibal – Badman Near Dark, alternative lost Komonazmuk Remix…

This is the first remix Komonazmuk sent me to go forward for the Combat Recordings 12″ of Badman Near Dark which can still be purchased here.

Closer to the deadline it became apparent he had lost some of the parts and so put together a new version, which is the one that saw release. However i still have an mp3 of the original version, which got included in the Scorn Vs King Cannibal Soundclash on Mary Anne Hobb’s Experimental Show on BBC Radio 1.

KING CANNIBAL SAYS….

Another instalment in the Unreleased Demos & Projects series. This one was originally recorded for Shockout after recording an EP for them entitled Devil In The Dancehall (or was it ‘Doomsday Dancehall’?)

King Cannibal ft Early Out – Funeral Again

I believe this track entitled Funeral Again (co-incidentally recorded after 3 pretty close family funerals i attended) was due for release on a split 12″ with a Kid 606 track and a Deadbeat track but after quite a long period of nothing happening with the previous mentioned Ep (the track list of which was Aragami Style, Ferox Riddim, Ghost Train and Error Code -50) i had to pull the material.

KING CANNIBALS SAYS…
Next up in the saga of unreleased tracks /demos / projects is this version of Onwards Vultures, the penultimate track on Let The Night Roar

I was lucky enough to work with local heroes Regolith, who worked from a beat i provided adding guitars and all manner of messed up processing business. This track is one of the process-a-pellas the guys sent over from one of the two versions of the track, the final album track is an edit of these two versions splice together.

Spykidelic Says

Being a mix I recorded for Type Records; home to excellent Black-Ambient projects such as Svarte Greiner, Grouper and Yellow Swans:

Spykidelic – Daugsteg by _type

This mix was basically a practice run by myself for the Dausteg event which took place on September 10th 2009 at Jakob Kulturkirken (Jakob Culture Church) in Oslo. Dausteg is an irregular club concept between me and Norwegian sound and visual artist Are Mokkelbost: I’m an ex-raver from South London with an interest in Norse metal and Are’s kind of the opposite. The night on the 10th was produced in conjunction with Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival who enabled us to book Mount Kimbie, Mick Barr (Ocrilim/Orthrelm/Krallice) and Oslo Noise/Hip Hop collective Tri-Function Million to play live alongside us DJing.”

KING CANNIBAL SAYS…

Up until the release of my debut album ‘Let The Night Roar‘ (Oct 12th!) i shall putting to use some of the material clogging up the cells on my harddrive. Expect some alternative versions of album tracks, beats and unreleased projects. Some tracks complete, some not.

First up is the first working draft of ‘So.. Embrace The Minimum‘. While i enjoyed listening to it looping round hour after hour i just couldn’t find the right element to add any sense of momentum to the track until one night something clicked, i can’t remember what that was right now, but i’m sure i was deliriously happy when it did.
