Two Fingers up and out.

KING CANNIBAL SHOUTS…
Regular Gods Of War contributor Doubleclick is on the rampage. The debut album by Two Fingers ( his & Amon Tobin’s new collaborative project ) is OUT NOW on digital formats, and oh boy is it a banger. Obviously he is too modest for self promo boasting (and no doubt far too busy too) so i’m doing it on his behalf.
Featuring guest vocals from Sway, Ms. Jade & Ce’Cile i have to honestly say it is the best and most interesting album i’ve heard in a long time. Combining dirty reece lines, huge cinematic swoops and intricate drum programming all under pinning the best rhymes Sway has delivered since his first few releases. YOU NEEEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE. I’d also add the next 12″ is a total banger too with a great remix by Spor.

KING CANNIBAL SAYS..

Back to the early days today with the Channel 4 documentary ‘A London Somet’ing’ from 93. An interesting time before the seem become fragmented, the glory years some people may say. Kenny Ken, Raga Twins, Mickey Finn, Brockie, Blackmarket Records, Ray Keith ,Randal, Grooverider, Basement Records, Ibiza, The Helicopter, Horizons… all with stretched lycra and pitched amens aplenty. This is one hell of a time capsule.

KING CANNIBAL SAYS….

The final part of the classic Lo la Da Musica documentary turns its focus to Source Direct and the early commercial breakthrough of dnb.  Whilst not being the most informative of documentaries its great to see inside of the studios (orparents houses) and mindsets of these one time dnb pioneers.

KING CANNIBAL CONTINUES…

Part 2 of Lo la Da Musica today, with Photek messing about with his Atari bugging on Miles Davis & John Coltrane. The guy is a massive influence on the King Cannibal sound but that should be fairly evident. The final part of this documentary featuring Photek disciples Source Direct will be up tomorrow.

KING CANNIBAL SNEEZES…

Next up in this series of Youtube mining dnb / jungle documentaries is Lola Da Musica’s DnB 96 part 1, featuring Tom ‘Squarepusher’ Jenkinson sitting in his front room taking you through a track  and playing with his SH101.  Its a dutch documentary but hold tight past the introduction as most of it is interview pieces in English.

KING CANNIBAL COUGHS…

You tube can be a cool thing when its not a home for footage of kids smacking shit out of each other, videos of people falling over (since when did the word FAIL become a justification for watching things you’d scoff at if it were on You’ve Been Framed?) and random action scenes plucked from blockbusters for someone to stick emo over to to of it. I’d thought over the course of the next seven days or so i’d put up some classic documentaries focussed on early jungle & drum n bass. The first is Lost in Music from 95/96 featuring Hype in chunky knitwear Enjoy
